MMG Welcomes Cosmetic Derma Medicine and Advanced Hair Clinics as Britain and Greece Deepen Their Partnership

Britain and Greece have signed a landmark tourism cooperation agreement that will strengthen investment, innovation and digital collaboration between the two countries. Alongside traditional tourism, healthcare is emerging as an important area of cooperation. Through partnerships with Cosmetic Derma Medicine and Advanced Hair Clinics in Athens, My Medical Gateway is giving UK patients access to Greek centres of medical excellence, combining consultant-led care with fixed-price treatment packages and significantly shorter waiting times.

The relationship between Britain and Greece has entered an important new chapter following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two governments aimed at strengthening cooperation across the tourism sector.

Signed in London by UK Tourism Minister Stephanie Peacock and Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, the agreement commits both countries to work more closely on tourism promotion, investment, innovation, sustainability, digitalisation and vocational training. It also establishes a bilateral working group to oversee its implementation over an initial five-year period.

Around five million British tourists already visit Greece each year, making the UK Greece’s largest international tourism market. The new agreement seeks to build on that success by encouraging closer cooperation in areas including cultural tourism, gastronomy, rural tourism, luxury travel and investment.

At My Medical Gateway (MMG), we believe healthcare deserves to be recognised as part of this growing relationship.

Healthcare travel has become one of Europe’s fastest-growing specialist sectors. Increasing numbers of patients are now prepared to travel internationally not simply because of cost, but because they are looking for faster access to consultant-led treatment, greater transparency and fixed-price treatment packages.

That is why MMG has worked to establish partnerships with some of Greece’s leading private healthcare providers.

One of our newest Accredited Healthcare Providers is Cosmetic Derma Medicine (CDM) in Athens, one of the largest private providers of aesthetic medicine, dermatology and plastic surgery in Greece and Cyprus. The CDM Medical Group operates 15 specialist clinics across Greece and Cyprus, bringing together highly experienced dermatologists, plastic surgeons and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Through MMG, UK patients can access a comprehensive range of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures delivered using advanced medical technology in modern clinical facilities, supported by experienced English-speaking coordinators throughout their treatment journey.

MMG has also partnered with Advanced Hair Clinics, a member of the CDM Medical Group and one of Europe’s leading specialist hair restoration providers.

Under the leadership of internationally recognised plastic surgeon Dr Anastasios Vekris, Advanced Hair Clinics specialises in advanced FUE hair transplantation and has received multiple international awards for clinical excellence. Patients benefit from highly personalised treatment programmes using some of the latest hair restoration techniques available anywhere in Europe.

These partnerships demonstrate how healthcare is becoming an increasingly important component of the wider UK-Greece relationship.

The new Memorandum of Understanding places particular emphasis on digitalisation, innovation, investment and the exchange of expertise. Those objectives closely mirror MMG’s own mission to create a fully digital healthcare marketplace through which UK patients can compare hospitals, consultants, treatment packages and prices before making informed healthcare decisions.

As healthcare becomes increasingly international, Greece is exceptionally well placed to benefit. It combines internationally respected clinicians, modern private hospitals, competitive pricing, excellent transport links and one of Europe’s strongest tourism infrastructures.

For British patients, Greece also offers familiarity and accessibility. Direct flights operate from numerous UK airports throughout the year, English is widely spoken and British visitors have enjoyed close cultural links with Greece for generations.

For many patients, choosing treatment abroad is therefore far less daunting than it once was. Increasingly, it is simply another informed healthcare decision, particularly where treatment can be accessed more quickly than at home without compromising quality or safety.

The strengthening of official relations between the UK and Greece comes at an important time. While the agreement is focused principally on tourism, its wider emphasis on innovation, investment and collaboration creates an encouraging environment in which healthcare partnerships can continue to flourish.

At MMG, we are proud to contribute to that relationship by introducing UK patients to some of Greece’s leading centres of medical excellence. As our network of Accredited Healthcare Providers continues to expand, we believe healthcare will become an increasingly important dimension of the already strong partnership between Britain and Greece, benefiting patients, providers and both countries for many years to come.
